General information:

Bamboo, oak, and timber are all-natural products. This means they respond and react to their environments, including absorbing and releasing moisture.
Even laminate floors behave this way because of their Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF) cores.

When a floor takes on moisture, it begins to swell. Moisture can cause cupping, the appearance of dark patches, warping, and in extreme cases, vertical movement.

This is not a manufacturing defect and is a natural reaction of the floor when exposed to moisture.

Check with your insurance company if your water damage is covered. Dishwasher, washing machine, and other appliance leaks are generally covered by insurance.

Please refer to our care and maintenance guidelines for each product for more detailed information on the effects of moisture and how to protect your floor.
